Hello there, my name is Ronnia Townsend, but I prefer Nia. I am the new Social Media manager and video editor for Mansell Media.
It’s not easy for me to talk about myself, so how about I tell you why working at Mansell Media has been the best part of my day, everyday.
I am currently a student at Hinds Community College and I study Radio and Television Production and Technology. I plan to transfer to MC pretty soon. I am from Jackson MS. I am a very kind and passionate person, that would take on the world alone if I was asked too.
When I first came to Mansell Media I wanted to be a part of the team. The reason for this decision was due to the fact that I felt my time studying went to waste when the pandemic hit. No news station or papers were hiring, so they didn’t have “unnecessary” people in the office. So I thought I had to find something new, and believe me I was ready for the challenge.
I went to Mansell Media after setting up an interview and man, at first I was so lost. Like they have all these talented and creative people here why do they need me?!
My confidence kicked in and announced that “there is no one like me.” So I tried to put my best foot forward and to be the best I could be in that moment to get the job. After the interview, a week went by and I saw on a facebook post that an old classmate of mine got the job instead of me.
I was happy for her, but upset I didn't get the job.
Three weeks went by and I was contacted by Mansell Media to come in for a possible new position as video editor!
So I did, and I got the job that day. Man, I left so fast after the interview and called my mama and told her the news. We were so happy.
Two weeks later, my awesome boss came into the office and asked me if I knew anyone who would like to be a social media manager. He told me more about the position and I immediately said I would do it. I went from happy one week, to so very nervous and excited the next. Since that day, it has been hard getting adjusted to the new position. However, I am so happy every day I come to work.
I am growing closer to my coworkers/ teammates, and y'all… I have my own office! I can still continue to go to school and work a job that I actually love. I never thought that I would be able to have a job and go to school, but man-o-man I am so happy I did.
Now I just have to keep working harder to maybe get a raise, hint hint…
