Marketing Strategies for Brand Perception

How brand perception can make or break your business.

Written by Emily Neely

Branding is essential to accurately representing your business to potential customers and clients. While a business creates the brand, the customers perceive what product or service is being sold. There is a clear distinction between the company's mindset and the consumer’s mindset. Brand perception is what the product represents to the customer.

The idea comes from the customer using, experiencing, and relating to the good being mentioned. Their ideas can then be communicated to other potential customers by word of mouth, online reviews, or various social media platforms. By communicating their own experience with your product, they are making judgements about your brand. Brand perception is important because with their positive feedback, your company is closer to success. Whether more people buy your product or other businesses choose to partner with you, your company will be rewarded from positive feedback.

Important ways to measure your brand perception can be done through surveys or by monitoring social media.

  • Taking surveys allows the user to voice their opinion with specific questions.

  • Analyzing social media comments allows you to see not only what the majority of consumers are saying, but increases your presence online. It is important to see which social media platforms are more successful, what content has the most views or shares, and what paid ad has the best performance.

If you are looking to improve your company's brand perception, you have several options. First, you can view your brand as if you were a consumer. Looking at your branding with fresh eyes can allow you to make observations you wouldn’t have before. Second, you can re-evaluate your staff. Not only make sure you have the proper leadership in place, but they stay up to date with current trends, are flexible with any changes that need to be made, and are creatively implementing new ideas. Utilizing these tools to help enhance and promote your brand perception, can make your business a success!
