Being a student in the Coronavirus era

Generally, by the end of summer break, my college class burnout is usually worn away. This summer however, I especially dreaded the beginning of this semester. Embracing change is an important thing and making the best out of any situation is crucial to keep on going. But I think we can all agree that this kind of change just plain out stinks.

The change in daily structure that the virus has brought us has taught me a few things. One of them being that I sure don’t hang out at home as much as I thought I did. Being confined in my home reminded me of the importance of peace and quiet, and that it feels good to just do nothing sometimes. And it’s totally okay.

I have also come to realize that I have not been as grateful for daily life and simple things as I believed I was. All of that complaining about strange class schedules and minor inconveniences don’t even compare to the catastrophe of an in class/remote/ ”changes every 3 second” schedule I have now. Although, I do have tremendous respect for my teachers for making this work on the spur of the moment with very limited resources.

Hopefully the theme of 2021 will be a slight bit more positive and calmer, and we all learn from our errors during this trying time.

P.S. Don’t forget to wear your mask!
