It’s safe to say if you’ve never heard of the words “social media”, you’re living under a rock. Social media has taken the world by storm with no signs of slowing down. Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter are not only used for keeping up with friends, family and your favorite celebs; they are used for marketing your business. If your business is not on social media, you’re missing out on a huge opportunity! Social media can be foreign to some, and the thought of utilizing these social platforms can seem a little intense. Also, social media platforms are CONSTANTLY changing! Between design updates, algorithm changes, and knowing the right number of #hashtags to use in order to increase your post engagement, it can be hard to stay up to date. Not to worry, that’s what social media managers are for!

I have managed several business’ social media presence. Along the way, I have had many questions from business owners about social media. While there are no silly questions, some of these questions make me realize these individuals are making the right decision by hiring a team of professionals to handle their marketing via social media. If you or someone you know have asked these 5 questions, chances are we can help you!

1. How do I create a Facebook Page?

Creating a Facebook page can be relatively simple, but there are many steps in creating one

such as: the business category you select, the business template, the about and services areas, connecting your Instagram, Twitter and website (if you have them), and so much more. All these steps are vital in having a functional Facebook page to make your business easier to find in the search engine of Facebook.

2. What’s the username and password to my business’ Facebook page?

This is probably the question we get the most. The nicest and simplest way I can put it is… that’s not how Facebook works. You log into your personal Facebook to reach the business page you manage. Keep in mind you must have admin rights to the Facebook page in order to access the page on the back end.

3. What is “boosting” a post?

“Boosting” a post means turning your post into an ad, which helps your page/post get in front of more people. You must have a credit card associated with your page in order to boost a post. Detailed targeting is also an extremely important factor in “boosting” a post in ensure your message is being viewed by your ideal target audience. Many things go into, “boosting” a post.

4. What is Business Manager/Ads Manager?

Business Manager is an area of Facebook where you can manage multiple pages (if you have multiple locations), set up credit card info and billing for ads, view reports and more. Ads manager is a section of business manager where you can create ad campaigns and event campaigns that can run several areas of Facebook AND Instagram. Ads manager is the most effective way to market your page to the right audience. It allows you to choose from several objectives to ensure you are marketing your business in the best ways possible.

5. What do I post?

Creating content is easier said than done. Often, social media managers have a content strategy in place to make sure your posts are scheduled days, weeks, and even months in advance. This content strategy typically follows a pattern based on the current algorithm, in attempt to get higher post engagement.

In summary, there is so much more than meets the eye with marketing on social media.
